Looking for something to do this March 17th, 2011 for St. Paddy's day? Well the luck of the Irish is with you! Bruce County has something for everyone!
Bruce County heritage is as diverse as the weather and there is a large number of people with Irish heritage. St. Patrick’s day was originally a Catholic Holiday and was recognized officially in the early 17th century. It is named in honour of one of the patron saints of Ireland. Since that time St. Patrick’s day has become a celebration of Ireland's heritage and culture. The day is celebrated all over the world in places where people of Irish Descent have come to reside. Across Ontario we have a large population of Irish descendants.
Fact: the Toronto Maple Leafs were known as the Toronto St. Patrick’s from 1919 to 1927 and had green jersey's!"
So whether you have a lot of Irish blood or a little, or even if you have none and just want to get out and have fun St. Patrick’s day is the day to do it. Even the wee ones can start sharing their heritage by getting them excited about dressing in Green!
