Saugeen Amphitheatre
Spiritual Infusion
There’s no better place to learn about First Nation culture than at the Saugeen Amphitheatre on the banks of the Saugeen River. The impressive stone amphitheatre and surrounding grounds on Saugeen First Nation Reserve is site to numerous workshops offered by the local Ojibway inhabitants.
Amidst the stone stairways and terraced, themed gardens you can learn the medicinal properties of local plants and how to make a medicine bag. Instruction is offered in arrowhead chipping and how to make your own spear, hand drum, bone choker, dreamcatcher and medicine wheel. Cultural outreach also includes a weekly traditional feast with storytelling, plus a Pow Wow in August. Pre-registration is required for programs but just visiting is free and can be enjoyed daily.
