Owen Sound - Tobermory - Teeswater

Downloads

Day 1

Stay at one of several great accommodators in Owen Sound for a nice early morning start. Head south on the B trail from Owen Sound then follow it west at junction 140. Continue to 122, then north at 126 and ride up to 46 at Bruce's Caves (Passport Stop #10) where you will find your first Adventure Stop. Follow the trail into Wiarton. Hop on the B107 north up to Lion's Head. The loop at junction 42 is well worth the ride if you want some extra miles. Your second punch is found at the Lion's Head Lighthouse (Passport Stop # 11). Head to the water at the Lion's Head Beach Park and follow the non-maintained trail to the Lighthouse. The Lion's Head Inn is a great place for lunch and there is gas at the variety store. Make sure to gas up in Lion's Head.

The best is yet to come. Grab the B108 north again and it takes you straight to Tobermory. Note that it is approximately another 4 hours to Tobermory. We said this was an adventure. Stop in at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre (Passport Stop # 12) to get your passport punch. Note the Passport Box is located at the base of the lookout tower at the new Visitor Centre. Simply park your sled at the end of the B108 trail where it joins Head Street in Tobermory and walk back to the Visitor Centre.

There are a couple of great places to stay in Tobermory, namely the Princess Hotel and the Adventure the Bruce Inn. The town is quite different in winter than in the height of summer.

Day 2

Grab some breakfast in the morning at The Princess Hotel and head back out on the trail (south) as soon as you gas up. As you are on the Peninsula, you have to follow the same B108 all the way back down to Lion's Head. We guarantee it will look different the second time. Pop into the Tamarac Island Inn in Stokes Bay for lunch (right at junction 7) off the B108. After lunch continue south to Sauble Falls (Passport Stop # 9). If you want to call it quits for the day, the Sauble River Marina Lodge & Resort is open year round, just 1 km from the main trail at Sauble Falls Provincial Park. Or you can head back to Wiarton and spend the night at the Waterview on the Bay, Topnotch Motel, or the Shenstone Motel.

Day 3

From Wiarton head south to Paisley to get to the Brant Tract, your next Adventure Punch is located in the Brant Tract (Passport Stop # 4) just South of Paisley near Intersection 303. There is a small warm up shack there. You can take club trails or hop back on the B108. There is gas in Chesley and Paisley.

The last punch is located in Teeswater (Passport Stop # 2). Continue south on this club trail to Dunkeld (great spot for an early lunch). Head over to the B108 again and head south all the way to intersection 363. Go west into Teeswater, where the Adventure Punch is located at the Teeswater Fairgrounds, opposite the Community Centre.

Now it's back to Owen Sound. Head back east to Mildmay then up to Scone & Chesley. Great food in Scone Harley Blues Café and gas in Chesley. From there head up to Chatsworth onto the B110 into Owen Sound.

Remember to return your completed passports to Bruce County Tourism with your name, address, phone number, e-mail and age by March 31, 2007 to be entered into the draw.

Remember to also get the other punches not located on the trail to qualify to win several other exciting prizes.
