We do have the odd rainy day here in Bruce County but not to worry. There are lots of fun indoor activities available. How about a game of billiards, for example? There are pool halls in Wiarton, Walkerton, Port Elgin and Kincardine at the Sutton Park Inn.
Another way to beat the bad weather might be a matinee movie. Kincardine has one of those old-style, small-town movie theatres where the older folk among us first experienced the thrill of film. The Port Elgin theatre offers multiple screens and Hanover offers a choice of shows. Nearby in Owen Sound, the Galaxy cinemas has seven screens, great surround sound, 3D films and an arcade.
Another evening option would be a drive-in movie. A trip down memory lane for you and a totally new experience for the kids. There are two drive-in theatres in our region – Hanover and Springmount, just outside Owen Sound. Here kids under 13 get in for free. Both drive-ins offer dusk-to-dawn movie marathons on long weekends.
Dinner and a movie, but where to eat? There are dozens of choices: deli-style, pub food, grills, bistros and fine dining. The Cape Chin Connection in Cape Chin is well known for its fine home-cooked meals. The Erie Belle in Kincardine serves whitefish fresh out of Georgian Bay. Many area restaurants serve Bruce County beef. Check out our extensive restaurant listings here on the website. Why not send us your restaurant review of your favourite new or old spot?
