July is a great month to go boating off the tip of the Bruce Peninsula at Tobermory.  And there are many opportunities to do so.  

A favourite attraction that brings visitors back again and again is Flowerpot Island that comes complete with hiking trails, wave caves, and the flowerpots themselves.  Once part of the cliffs of the island.  Ceaseless action of the waves carved away at the cliff leaving rock pillars standing alone surrounded by water.

It’s easy to get to Flowerpot Island, part of Fathom Five National Marine Park.  Blue Heron Cruises offers several choices that leave the docks in Little Tub several times a day.  You can ride aboard a glass bottom boat or a rigid inflatable that not only drops passengers off on Flowerpot but visits two century old shipwrecks in Big Tub on the way, the City of Grand Rapids and the Sweepstake.

Blue Heron also offers a glass bottom two-hour cruise of Fathom Five National Marine Park and a sunset cruise along the rugged coast of the Bruce Peninsula.  For the adventurous, why not kayak, canoe or sail around the many islands off Tobermory or scuba dive its waters, home to many a shipwreck?  Boat rentals are also available.

And for a totally relaxing day on the blue waters of summer, walk aboard the “Big Canoe” for a ferry ride to South Baymouth and back.  Don’t forget your camera for a picture of the lighthouse on Cove Island while sailing on board the famous Chi-Cheemaun (which can take you, your car or your motorcycle across to Manitoulin Island).  There is also a regular sunset dinner cruise through the summer from June 25 to Sept 6 from Tobermory mondays, wednesdays and Saturdays at 8pm(yearly sunset dinner cruise schedule).
