Part of your "Natural Retreat" should most definitely include a hike on one of the fabulous trail systems. Bruce County boasts over 1,500 km of combined trail systems. There are hikes for all levels, from the beginner to the advanced, from a leisurely stroll along a boardwalk or rail trail to a challenging multi-day hike along the Bruce Trail. Try Spelunking (caving) along the Niagara Escarpment at Bruce's Caves or Greig's Scenic Caves.

In the winter, many of these trails provide excellent conditions for both cross country skiing and snowshoeing opportunities. We have the good fortune of living in an area that has extremely well developed trail systems. In addition to the 280 kms of the Bruce Trail that runs through our area, there are over 500 kms of trail that are promoted by the Bruce-Grey Trails Network.

The former CN railway lines have been converted into a popular hiking, walking, running and cycling route now referred to as the Saugeen Rail Trail and the Kincardine Trails. Whatever your interest, hiking, cycling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or just plain walking the dog, there is a trail in Bruce County perfect for you.
