On June 19, 2012 we will open “The HMS General Hunter/War of 1812 Feature Exhibit” which commemorates the 200th anniversary of the war between the U.S. and Britain/Canada. The General Hunter was a British Warship which fought in a numerous actions during the War of 1812 before being lost to the U.S. Navy in the famous Battle of Lake Erie. In 1816, it was shipwrecked on the Southampton beach where it still lies buried in the sand. Besides displaying military items and other artifacts recovered from the ship - the focal point of the exhibit is a replica of the General Hunter’s deck and rails. Interactives include: a simulated cannon-firing sequence a sail-raising activity and a ship steering experience. OPENS (APRIL 13, 2012) Creepy Crawlies in XL (May 18 – September 3, 2012) Experience the life of a bug through this larger-than-life exhibit featuring oversized plants, caves, grass and bugs! ----------------------------------------------- The BCM&CC features an extensive history of Bruce County and all it entails.  This includes Marine Heritage we are proud to be the new home of the Stokes Bay Lighthouse.
