There’s plenty of fish in the sea – and in our lakes, streams and rivers. Heck, simply casting from a dock can yield a good catch. Okay, no promises but Bruce County on a whole is a favoured fishing destination in Southern Ontario. Why? You can go downrigging in the cool deep waters of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron in summer, and cast from riverbanks into the migratory run in spring and fall. Quiet inland lakes invite spinning, and the revered Saugeen River is “the” place for fly fishing.
Other assets? We’re well equipped with charters, guides, derbies, tackle shops and boat rentals. You can find boat rentals available at Miller Lake Summerhouse Park, Miller’s Family Campground and Landsend Park in Tobermory. What’s more? Well, salmon, rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, lake trout, large and small mouth bass, northern pike, perch, pan fish….
Licenses & Fine Print
Fishing licenses (mandatory in Ontario) are available locally and so is the Ministry of Natural Resources Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary, which includes everything the angler needs to know about seasons, possession limits and general fishing regulations.
