Winter Wonderland Gliding

Welcome to Bruce County, a meca for cross-country skiing! We’ve got lots of ski clubs with multi level trail networks. Many ski trails are groomed and trackset community paths making it easy to glide upon. There are also numorous town rail trails for ski use with well marked routes for backcountry exploration.
Do you need equipment? Cross-country ski rentals are available from Suntrail outfitters in Hepworth, which has a whole room dedicated to the sport.
Top Ski Trails
Sawmill Ski Trails in Hepworth is Bruce County’s most popular and progressive site, where racers train and events are hosted. It offers groomed trails for both classical and skate-skiing, loops for beginners and experts, and even a lit loop for night laps.
Sauble Beach Cross-Country Ski Trails is an 18 km network that’s well groomed, well-marked, delightfully hilly and not busy. On weekends you can finish your tour at the on-site chalet where free hot cider awaits.
Colpoy’s Ski Trail follows the Bruce Trail in part, up on the Niagara Escarpment with dramatic views across Colpoy’s Bay. The groomed loop is gently rolling through sheltered woods and open fields.
Stoney Island Conservation Cross Country Ski Club maintains trails all winter.
Backcountry enthusiasts head to Bruce Peninsula National Park to ski to the Grotto, Cyprus Lake and across Singing Sands. On the Bruce Trail, the Devil’s Monument near Cape Chin North is a striking destination that comes with a view.
