Explore the Bruce is a descriptive brand image created by the Bruce County Tourism team to promote and identify the numerous all-season indoor and outdoor activities across Bruce County. Used as a mobile information and activity center, the Explore the Bruce Adventure Vehicle is a common addition to local events, and often travels outside of the county to promote and publicize the ‘Bruce’.  Welcome to Bruce County!   -Adventure Team-

Kara Van Myall is a the new acting Bruce County Tourism Manager.  Registered Professional Planner and Landscape Architect and has been working in the Planning and Economic Development Department for the County of Bruce since 2006.  One of Kara’s current projects is working on a new Spruce the Bruce initiative within the Department bringing together the planning, economic development and tourism roles that the Department encompasses to meet the objective of creating, healthy, successful, rural communities.

For the past 5 yrs Kim McPhedran has been extensively involved in promoting Bruce County, Ontario’s number one outdoor, nature based destination as Tourism Project Coordinator.  As of 2010 she has taken the helm of Bruce County Tourism as Manager.   Instrumental in delivering the widely popular Explore the Bruce "Adventure Passport" campaign (for the past 6yrs) and has been involved with various other programs including the local food project, and Spruce the Bruce. 

Furthermore, Kim McPhedran works with the regional representatives from Grey and Simcoe Counties in the development of the newly formed Regional Tourism Organization Seven (RTO7).

Jamie Lee Everatt lives and plays in Bruce County.  The longest member of Team Tourism her enthusiam for Bruce County shines through in her role as Information Officer.  Her passion for photography, and love for the outdoors, whether it be hiking the Bruce Trail, snowshoeing to remote places in the winter, or being a Lighthouse Keeper in one of our Bruce Coast Lighthouses, makes this the perfect place to live.

Gem Webb is the driving force behind Bruce County Tourism’s Internet Marketing. Namely, the  “Explore the Bruce” brand and its social media accounts, like twitter, Facebook, YouTube and a plethora of other accounts. He offers advantages and opportunities to all Bruce County businesses with free promotion to hundreds of thousands of web searchers. Gem encourages knowledge-sharing by providing educational seminars, fun local seasonal campaigns, online marketing insights and techniques about reaching target markets. Make sure to sign up for Bruce County business newsletters! Feel free to send him questions, as he seems to have 4 hands while sitting in front of the computer but he always takes the time to answer all inquiries.

He’s an intuitive, creative multimedia web designer and internet marketer with a talent for special effects (IMAX 3d films: Harry Potter, Superman Returns, and Beowulf are included among his credits).  He focuses on what he can do to help Bruce County businesses all week long by increasing exposure while pivoting it all on sharing with the world how great this beautiful area is. Kristin is a Bruce County girl. Growing up behind her parent’s scuba diving store in Port Elgin, Kristin fell in love with Lake Huron at an early age. Water has been a driving force in many of Kristin’s jobs. From Lifeguard, to Assistant Harbour Manager, to Communications Coordinator for Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation, Kristin has always had an attachment to Lake Huron. Kristin has now joined the Bruce County Tourism team as a Project Coordinator and is excited to promote the many things she loves about Bruce County.

Adventure Bruce is the new Bruce County Tourism Mascot!  We're getting to know this new team member.  He's very knowledgable with all the great things to see and do across Bruce County towns.  The adventures began this summer with Bruce visiting many of the Adventure Passport 2011 stops meeting animals and people.   If you see him out and about in your town feel free to take photos with him as he's really coming out of his shell these days and loves hugs. :)

Born and raised in Lion’s Head, Lisa has spent the last ten years in Peterborough, Ontario.  There she worked with Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism and the Greater Peterborough Economic Development Agency for over five years. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge on the tourism industry as well as a passion for Bruce County. She is thrilled to be back living and working in the Bruce.
