Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race
Subaru® Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race
The next Subaru BPMR is: Aug 12, 2017
The 100km Buff Long Course is an opportunity to have a supported race through the wilderness across the Bruce Peninsula. “Supported” means your bike, boat and gear is exactly where you need it when you need it. The course is also marked from start to finish so there is no orienteering necessary. This longer course is for those that have trained all summer, as it contains over 20km of running, 15km of paddling, and often over 60km of mountain biking. For those looking for a different challenge, there is also relay option on the same course that is self-supported and allows a team to divide the challenge up into legs.
Although this 100km course is completely redesigned every few years, it is always held on a secret course on a mix of private and public trails, announced only on raceday by the race director.
The 25km Suntrail Course is a more achievable discipline, either for those new to adventure racing or just not quite ready for 7h-12h out in the trails. Finishers vary from 90 minutes to about 3 hours. The route has been consistent over the years with some minor variations to make it as enjoyable as possible.
Both the 100km and the 25km courses can also be done in tandem with another racer (it’s kayak-only for Buff Long Course tandem and canoe-only for Suntrail Course tandem teams) Both courses also finish with the iconic scenery of Colpoy’s Bay at their side for the last 5km of running, at times with the finish line in Wiarton’s Bluewater Park in view. Various duathlon disciplines exist, it’s best to check the event website to see what’s exactly on offer.
Summer House Park Kids Race also takes place in Wiarton's Bluewater Park on Saturday afternoon, Aug 12th, 2017 and is a fundraiser for Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation.
