You can count on the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre tweak your curiosity and give you things to talk about. The state-of-the-art, $11.1 million facility in Southampton uses modern and interactive techniques to showcase a thousand years and more of history in Bruce County. From the ice age to the military, and from Aboriginal tools to the telephone, the museum is the ticket to great insight to the land, the people and the marine heritage of the Bruce.

Engaging, Intriguing

Start with a movie, for perspective on Bruce County’s diversity, from its agriculture to its First Nation heritage. Then make your way through the many exhibits on all three levels. Be sure to check out the artifacts and also the two historic log buildings, behind the museum. Plan ahead to catch a stage production or other special event. There are children and family programs too. Give yourself at least a couple of hours to explore.

What's New?

It’s stinky; it’s crusty; it’s slimy and it’s coming to the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre; “Grossology; The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body”.  This highly interactive exhibit explains the good, the bad and the downright ugly truth about runny noses, body odor and much more – but only May 21 to September 5, 2011.

Visit the Vomit center - Stop by the Toot Toot exhibit - Help a larger-than-life cartoon character release a giant burp - Climb a large-scale replica of human skin - Slide through an intestine – Play “Urine: The Game.”  Also this summer - be on the lookout for our Mad Scientist – who will travel across Bruce and Grey Counties with fun games, prizes and all of the information you need to keep busy and have fun with us!
